Section 8 Housing Vouchers

Apply for clean, safe, and affordable housing.

Safe and sanitary housing is a basic human need that should be accessible to everyone. But with today's astoundingly high rent prices, decent housing has become a luxury that not everyone can afford.

To tackle this issue, the federal government offers a housing choice voucher program that assists low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford safe and sanitary housing in the private market.

Through the voucher program, families have the freedom to choose their own housing, whether it's a single-family home, townhouse, or apartment, and their local public housing agency will subsidize their rent. In some cases, they may even qualify to use the voucher to purchase a home.

How can you get a housing voucher?

Unfortunately, there's no easy, universal application process for Section 8 housing vouchers.

Each local public housing agency (PHAs) has their own unique process, making it difficult to know how to apply. It can be a challenge to know where to start or to even confirm whether you're eligible for a voucher or not. What's even worse is that you could spend hours researching the process, just to discover that your PHA's waitlist is completely full and they aren't taking any new applicants.

How Can DoNotPay Help?

With DoNotPay's rental assistance product, we take care of the heavy lifting for you.

We'll ask you a few basic questions about your financial status and then contact your local PHA on your behalf to ask about the waitlist and whether you're eligible.

All you have to do is:

1. Answer a few questions about your income, family size, veteran/disability status, which county you hope to live in, etc.

2. DoNotPay will find the PHA in charge of that county and contact them with all of your eligibility information to determine if you can start applying. They'll get back to you directly via email with the next steps.
